my projects

cardournal
masterpiece hub

about

a prompt-based journal application that blends the art of tarot with the power of self reflection. dive into a world of discovery and personal growth as you embark on a unique journaling journey

technologies

  • bootstrap
  • HTML
  • CSS

features

  • cache user data
  • dynamic hompage
  • responsive design

project difficulties

in the initial version of this project, we presented a complex spread of ten cards, each accompanied by detailed information. however, we realized that this approach proved overwhelming for new users and lacked practicality.

my solution

now, upon launching the application, users are greeted with a single card at a time, accompanied by a thought-provoking prompt. a designated text area is available for users to record their personal reflections and experiences. this revised approach of one prompt per card enables users to make more meaningful associations and learn more efficiently. as a result, the project has transformed from a mere database into a cherished journal, holding significant value for its users.

about

masterpiece hub is an online platform that provides a curated collection of art pieces from various historical periods, artists, and art movements. users can browse art eras, discover famous artists, and view high-quality images of the artworks with informative descriptions.

technologies

  • react
  • node.js
  • express
  • mongoDB
  • bootstrap

features

  • token authentication
  • dynamic segments
  • process server data from GUI

project difficulties

during the inception of masterpiece hub, my main focus was primarily centered around the user experience. unfortunately, this led me to prioritize unnecessary features over the practicality and usefulness of the project itself.

my solution

i decided to eliminate the code that enabled users to search artworks by name due to its limited usage. since our target users primarily utilize this platform for educational purposes, a search bar would only benefit those who are already familiar with artworks. therefore, removing this feature was deemed necessary. this decision freed up valuable time that I could then invest in automating the generation of artwork pages, a feature that significantly reduced the time spent on manual creation and saved countless hours.
